IELTS selection procedure : IELTS scores are accepted by over 9,000 organisations and institutions across the globe. While the IELTS selection procedure  depends on the eligibility criteria set by the organisations or universities the candidate will be applying to, aspirants should ideally have scored at least above the 6 band score to qualify for most of the institutions. The IELTS selection procedure  depends, largely, on the version of the test the student is appearing for. According to the test pattern of IELTS, it is conducted in two versions - IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training.  The purpose of the two versions of IELTS Test is listed below:

Study at university at undergraduate or postgraduate level,join a professional organisation in an English-speaking country

Study at below degree levelwork or undertake work-related training in an English-speaking country,emigrate to an English-speaking country

A specific version can be selected by the candidates depending on the institution or organisation they wish to enter in an English-speaking country. The IELTS test has no specific eligibility criterion. And hence there is no specific IELTS selection procedure  for any university. However, as the selection procedure of IELTS  varies from organisation to organisation, candidates have to make sure they are fully informed at the time of filling up of the IELTS application form . While every organisation sets its own entry requirements in the IELTS  selection procedure, in some cases both versions of IELTS may be accepted.

 

Further, the accepted IELTS score also varies according to countries, universities and the programme the student is applying to. For example, most of the business schools in USA accept an IELTS score band of above 7 while those in Oceania or Asia accept IELTS score above 5.5 in the IELTS selection procedure .

The IELTS syllabus covers four sections. They are: Listening, reading, writing and speaking. The tests should be covered within a total duration of 2 hours 45 minutes. However, listening, reading and writing tests are taken on one day while speaking test may be taken on the same day or within 7 days before or after the test. Universities refer the overall IELTS scores of the candidates in their IELTS selection procedure .

 

Worldwide, there are more than 1,100 test centres for IELTS Test. Test dates can be fixed by the aspirants from the list of given IELTS test dates. However, confirmation on the IELTS test date will be received only if there are available seats as on that date.
